Overview
What customers search for
Search terms and the number of results for each. Terms with no results show what is missing from your range.
Search in Magento runs on a separate search engine, OpenSearch. It ranks results by relevance, understands synonyms and suggests terms while the customer types. In categories, customers narrow the selection with filters by price, brand or any attribute.
You decide what counts as a synonym, where each term leads and what customers can filter by. Without a developer, in the admin.
A customer types “tee”, your product names say “t‑shirt”. The synonym dictionary links the two words. Terms that have one right answer you send straight to a specific page.
Autocomplete suggests search terms while the customer types.
You set the weight of attributes yourself: a match in the name can rank above a match in the description.
Category filters are built from the attributes you fill in for products. For each value the customer sees how many products remain, and the counts update after every choice.
You can filter by price, brand or any attribute, for example material or power.
For each attribute you decide whether it appears in the filters.
How customers get to a product when they are not searching but browsing.
The main menu is built automatically from the category tree. You set the depth.
Breadcrumbs show the path to the product on every page.
Sorting by price, name or a position you define.
Switching between grid and list, and choosing the number of products per page.
Full‑text search on OpenSearch, with sorting by relevance.
You manage the synonym dictionary yourself in the admin.
Search term redirects: searching for “returns” leads straight to your returns policy.
Search also tells you what customers want. All features →
