Deedhold

A technical foundation that keeps your store fast even at peak times.

A fast store doesn’t rely on one trick, but on several layers. Finished pages are served from cache, search is handled by a separate engine and heavy tasks run in the background. You don’t need to know the names of the technologies - here is what they do for you.

What happens when a customer clicks

The store doesn’t rebuild most pages for every visitor. And whatever takes longer, it moves to the background.

A page from cache, or freshly built Diagram: the customer opens a category or product. The page cache (Varnish) checks whether it has the page. If yes, it sends the finished page instantly and Magento computes nothing. If not, Magento builds the page with the help of OpenSearch for search and filters and Redis as fast memory, and stores it for the next visits. CUSTOMER Category or product VARNISH Page cache has the page? IN CACHE Finished page instantly Magento computes nothing NOT IN CACHE Magento builds it and stores it for next visits OpenSearch search and filters Redis fast memory

Finished pages from cache

The full‑page cache (Varnish) remembers finished category and product pages. The next visitor gets them instantly, without the store assembling them again. That is why the site handles the rush during a sale.

When a page is not in the cache, Magento builds it and stores it for the next visits.

After a price or product change, the affected pages in the cache refresh by themselves.

What runs in the background Diagram: staff start a bulk edit of 2,000 products. The task goes into a message queue (RabbitMQ) and is processed in the background, just like e‑mails and exports. Staff and customers keep working meanwhile. On top of that, the scheduler runs recurring tasks by itself: exchange rates, sitemap, indexing and e‑mails. HEAVY OPERATIONS STAFF START A bulk edit 2,000 products RABBITMQ Message queue tasks go in order IN THE BACKGROUND Processing plus e‑mails and exports Staff and customers keep working meanwhile, no waiting SCHEDULED TASKS Scheduler runs on its own FX rates Sitemap Indexing E‑mails

Heavy tasks in the background

E‑mails, exports and indexing (preparing data for fast search and listings) don’t slow down the site. They go into a message queue (RabbitMQ) and are processed in the background while the store keeps serving customers.

Bulk editing of thousands of products in the admin runs in the background with a progress overview. Meanwhile you keep working.

Scheduled tasks run by themselves on a schedule: exchange rates, the sitemap for search engines, reindexing and e‑mails.

The technologies and what they do for you

Each part solves one thing. Together they keep the store fast, even when a lot of people arrive at once.

Under the hood

Varnish - full‑page cache. The customer gets a finished page instantly.

OpenSearch - a separate search engine. Search and filtering in categories don’t load the rest of the store.

Redis - fast memory. Keeps the cache and customer sessions in memory, not on disk.

RabbitMQ - a message queue. Heavy operations wait in line and are processed in the background.

What the customer notices

The lightweight Hyvä theme with minimal JavaScript speeds up catalog, product and cart pages.

Images are automatically resized to the needed size and load only when the customer scrolls to them.

The cart and checkout are never served from cache. They are calculated for each customer separately, so customers always see their own products and their own prices.

What else comes with it

More parts of the technical foundation. All features → Security and operations →

Files

Media in the cloud

Images and files can be stored in S3‑compatible cloud storage.

Monitoring

Performance monitoring

The store can be connected to New Relic to track how fast the application responds.

Import

Large batches without the load

Thousands of products or prices through the API are processed in a queue, without loading the store.

Extensions

Open code

Whatever is missing can be developed. The platform locks nothing in.
